PODCAST

Podcasts can be a unique tool to use not only in the classroom but on a daily basis.  They allow time to catch up on professional, educational, entertaining and inspirational subjects while performing other tasks.  Podcasts come in a wide range of topics similar to library collections.  Podcasts may be used in a classroom/library to have book talks, virtual book club meetings, student newscasts, author interviews, and book discussions.  Podcasts give students the opportunity to share and express their ideas and opinions regarding their personal interests and passions. Another great advantage of using Podcasts is the flexibility it allows to learn something new while in the comfort of your own home.  Of all the Podcast websites I visited I preferred to use Soundcloud.  I found it easy to navigate and upload my recording.  One thing that did cause some difficulty was using an IPhone instead of an Android phone. The android phone allowed me to record on the app itself but the IPhone did not give me that option.  I would have to purchase the upgrade to be able to record, edit and share my podcast.  Ultimately I used my laptop to record and uploaded to Soundcloud therefore eliminating some confusion.  I would have loved to use my IPhone though just because it is more accessible and easier to carry.

Here is a short podcast I worked on with my daughter.  She was really nervous so I apologize for that. We did have a great time working on our podcast.

  1. Soundcloud is easy to use. It's intersting that the IPhone and Android gave you different options on the app. I like the theme of your podcast I just wish I could have heard your daughters responses.
